Who is like God? Who is like God?
Who is like God?

By Eliot Morgan

A few months ago, I was privileged to be able to share with you our beautiful adoption story.  Needless to say, the subject of adoption has become very personal and very precious to our family. My wife and I have begun to understand the meaning of the Gospel in ways that we never could have before adopting Abigail. Adoption is the Gospel! For we were once not a people, but God in His amazing mercy CHOSE to adopt us as sons and daughters into His glorious Kingdom!

Our precious Abigail was destined for sure death (abortion), but God in His mercy stepped in and saved her life by calling us to adopt this child. She was orphaned by her birth father and rejected by her birth motherbut adopted by a father and a mother simply because of love. Beloved, isn’t this exactly what God did for each and every one of us? What a mighty God we serve!

If this story isn’t compelling enough, we have learned that the God we serve always has much more in store than we could think or even imagine! Before I share the next part in our wonderful story, I want to tell you why I am sharing these things. We have learned through the pain of having a miscarriage and then going through the adoption process just how many people are out there just like us. I share this testimony with you today as a story of hope that doesn’t just belong to us. This is the same hope and promised future for all of those who put their trust in Jesus! The Bible says, Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:7)

I don’t know what you are going through today. I don’t know what promises you are still waiting on God to fulfill in your life. But can I encourage you today? God will keep every single promise that He has made to you! God does not lie, nor does He lead us on aimlessly to wander in the parched land of hopelessness! Keep waiting on the Lord with faith and great expectation! We must learn that He doesn’t do things the way that we would do them. Very rarely have I ever seen God fulfill a promise in my life the exact way that I imagined it would come to pass. In fact, He always does it way better than what I had I mind!

We pursued adoption first to be obedient to God; and secondly because we so desperately desired to have a baby. In the natural it seemed impossible. We didn’t give up. We gave in. We gave in to God. We completely surrendered that desire to Him. Jenny and I were so content with Abigail. She is perfectGod gives such good gifts! He is the God, if I can say it this way, that always outdoes Himself!

A few months ago, we found out that we are pregnant. Yes, you read that right. Yesterday we found out we are having a baby girl. God is so amazing! We named our first daughter Abigail. Her name means, “My father’s joy.” Abigail Joy truly restored our joy and turned our mourning into dancing! Our second daughter shall be called Micaiah. Micaiah means, “Who is like God?” I want to remind you today we serve a faithful God! There is no one like our God! Look to Jesus and watch what He will do in your life. You too will declare with us, “Who is like our God!”
