“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” John 1:1-3
The Word of God is eternal, all knowing, all seeing, all powerful and omnipresent. With God there is no beginning and no end, He always was and always will be. The Word is the reason for this season!
“So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” John 1:14
Almost everyone loves the Christmas Season, the lights seem brighter, Joy fills our hearts and goodwill towards mankind seems easier to give to others. Most will say giving brings more joy than receiving. We were created to be like our Creator, so by giving we mimic our God and Father. God is Love and it was Love that held Jesus upon the cross as He paid the price for OUR SIN.
This is our redemption, the Cross, the pain of the whipping with bone chips in the “cat of nine tails” whip and the “crown of thorns” shoved into Jesus’ head. The “punches” in Jesus’ face and body by the guards. Putting the “purple robe” over open wounds as the blood absorbed His blood, then ripping it off. This is why we celebrate God coming into the world, to take away the sins of the world.
So, Jesus is the reason for this season of Peace, Love, Joy and good will towards men. His birth was and always will be the redemption of mankind and the sacrifice for all who would accept His salvation. The God of creation is more concerned with a person’s eternal salvation than any other earthly event.
“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.”(Ephesians 2:4-6)
The birth was miraculous, the Wise Men’s provision for Jesus to flee a coming massacre of infants, the teaching in the synagogue at 12 years old to signifying the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of his Father’s will for his life. The price paid for us, impossible for us to pay. His human life from beginning to the end for us. The reason for Jesus’ birth…US!
