Refocus Refocus

“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer an perfecter of faith.” (Hebrews 12:2 NIV)

As a Christian, I feel as though I should always have it together and always be ok. Truth is, I don’t. Striving for perfection leaves me depleted and exhausted. God has certainly put His thumb on this area in my life. To rely on Him; His strength, His wisdom, His provision and His love.

What is He showing me? That through the busyness of life; I take Him for granted. I don’t commune with Him as I should. I have repented for getting off track, relying on myself, getting frustrated and worrying about the future. I am REFOCUSING! I am asking Him what steps to take instead of taking them on my own then getting frustrated with Him. How backwards is that? We blame God for our mess when it wasn’t His idea from the beginning!!! Or possibly, He gave us the idea and we took off running without asking Him for the details! Ouch!

I am now making Him a priority by worshiping Him in the morning, reading my devotional, scriptures, and praying. I am getting rid of the excuses to check Facebook and answer texts/calls during HIS time! See, we can get so caught up in “doing His work” that we lose sight of the work He wants to do IN us.

So I encourage you to repent, worship, return to your first love and allow Him to order your steps. Put Him above every other person, job, ministry, etc. You are not perfect and you can’t do this on your own. He wants us to be dependent on Him, not ourselves or the world around us.
