From skeletons to soldiers
By Lew “Blue” LeMeilleur
Ezekiel 37:4-5, “Again He said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.’” (NKJV)
I have skeletons in my closet. Not in the way you may be thinking. These skeletons now fight for me instead of against me to destroy the lie of the enemy when he spews his garbage like, “You’re not worthy of God’s love!” or “You always disappoint God and those who love you.”
Those skeletons were addictions and sin, and I kept the closet door closed so nobody would know how messed up I was. After all, if they knew the real me they would run far and fast away from me. So I wore a mask to hide my shame.
One day the pain of staying the same became greater than the pain of change, so I opened the closet door and prophesied God’s truth over those bones, and I saw God turn them into an army of victorious testimonies of restoration and God’s grace!
Ephesians 5:13 says, “But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.” (NIV)
God shined His love light on my rattlin’ bones in the dark closet of shame and created an army of light to glorify the only God who can bring the dead to glorious life!
So what’s in your closet? What “sin which doth so easily beset us” are you still hiding from others and not letting God have? Are you waiting for a different result using the same methods? That’s called insanity.
Open that door to Jesus, and watch as the skeletons transform before your eyes into soldiers of light as you head into a new beginning and a new future free from shame and guilt in God’s presence!
