Prayer Revival, October 8-11

First Baptist Church of Lafeyette

By Pastor Steve Horn

Earlier this summer God placed on my heart to lead our church in a renewal of our prayer focus as a church. Jesus said of the Temple, “My House Shall Be Called a House of Prayer.” In addition, prayer is the one thing Jesus’ disciples asked Him to teach them how to do.

One of the great highlights of our renewed focus on prayer is to have a prayer revival. Devoting Oct. 8-11 to prayer, this revival is open to the public and we welcome the community to join us at First Baptist on these evenings, to pray for our nation, kingdom issues, our state and more.

Prayer leader schedule

On Sunday, Oct. 8, I will lead our prayer gathering at our usual evening worship time of 6:00 p.m., and Mon.-Wed., Oct. 9-11, we’ll begin at 6:30 p.m. On these nights, the Sanctuary will be open at 6:00 p.m. for personal prayer. The rest of the week we’ll have these special guest leaders.

Oct. 9 Prayer Leader: Rod Masteller—Rod pastored in OK before coming to LA., and retired as pastor of Summer Grove Baptist in Shreveport. I count Rod as a great friend and a personal mentor, especially in the area of prayer. Rod will lead us specifically in praying for our nation.

Oct. 10 Prayer Leader: David Carlton—Director of Missions, Evangeline Baptist Association—David and his wife Pamela are members of First Baptist. Drawing upon his vast experience in living in other cultures, David will lead us well in leading us to pray about kingdom issues.

Oct. 11 Prayer Leader: David Hankins—Executive Director, Louisiana Baptist Convention—David has become a great friend since I’ve been pastor of First Baptist. He gives leadership to our collaborative effort as Southern Baptists in Louisiana. I’m asking him to lead us to pray for the vast needs that we have as a state.

All are welcome to join us from Oct. 8-11, 6:30 p.m., at First Baptist Lafayette, 1100 Lee Ave., 70501. See you there!
