Passionate prayer, praise & preaching—on East Simcoe

By Nick Sigur

It’s great to visit a church with passionate prayer, praise and preaching. My wife and I found that at The Harvest Center Church. The church has been meeting for 7 years, and since August of 2016 at 903 East Simcoe, Lafayette. I would join with one person who commented on the Facebook page: “This church family is so amazing, I felt so welcome from the time I walked on the parking lot and Pastor Kelly I really believe God directed me to the Harvest Center, your message was definitely for me, I will be back, love you all.”

The Harvest Center seeks to be a progressive and relevant ministry that will lead people to achieve GOD’s best for them. The goal is to be a community of well-informed and spiritually empowered people “who will actively equip people to carry out their divine purpose while building everything around us…lives, families, homes, communities, and ultimately the world.”

Pastor Kelly and The Harvest Center Church have taken on a very daunting challenge. They meet in a building that was once a “club” in a very “unchurched” neighborhood. The building has been transformed into a welcoming and functional church home. They are taking on the challenge directly. This summer they raised money to provide shoes for local kids. There were lots of kids present on the Sunday we visited.

The Sunday we attended, Pastor Kelly spoke on “Clean Hands and a Pure Heart,” noting that such are possible only through Jesus. They will need both to succeed in their mission. I, for one, would not bet against them or Jesus. East Simcoe is going to change for the glorious better.

Looking for a church where you can come as you are, but won’t stay as you are? The Harvest Center meets at 11 a.m. on Sundays and at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays at 903 East Simcoe, Lafayette. Visit the website, and find them on Facebook at
