At times motherhood can leave us feeling stuck. We wrestle with the challenges of raising kids, taking care of our home, paying bills, and balancing life. We struggle to find our purpose and identity, trying to hold tight to what we knew of ourselves before kids. Moms are stressed and overwhelmed by the day-to-day monotony and living a life on the go. And laundry. The never-ending to-do list defeats us daily. We are in need of both an emotional boost and a spiritual reboot.
Six years ago, I started a Bible study group for moms at The Bayou Church called MOMentum. The Lord’s favor has brought a multi-denominational community of moms together to fellowship, dig deep into His Word, and grow in Christ. Near the beginning of this ministry, I put together a one-page mini-devotional. Seven days, one short phrase/mantra and one Bible verse per day.
These were gentle reminders to keep our eyes fixed on the Lord, steps to take each day to change our perspective and shift our focus toward God. As a mom who was caught up in the busyness of motherhood, it was something I personally needed. Recently, God prompted me to dig deeper and expand upon what I had typed out on that sheet so long ago.
Now, as our 13th semester of our Bible study group kicked off in 2020, so has a devotional of the same name: MOMentum – 7 Days // 7 Steps. This 7-day devotional will give moms momentum to move forward in your faith and find joy in motherhood. It includes a short message, prayer and reflection prompts, scripture verses, and phone graphics to download to serve as daily reminders.
