Increase Him, decrease me

John 3:14 says, “Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up…”In Numbers 21:4-9 God allowed serpents to come out of the desert to bite the Israelites because they spoke against the Lord and Moses. After they repented, God instructed Moses to make a bronze serpent, fashioned to a pole and lifted it into the air. Now whosoever was bitten, could look up at the serpent and be saved.
Later Jesus said in John 12:32, “And if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to myself.”Jesus was referring to Himself being lifted up on a cross in order to bare the curse of sin, so we would no longer bare that curse. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God in Christ.”
Jesus was able to save us and make us right with God because He was lifted up for our sin. Now as believers we are able to lift Him up because of His sacrifice for us. The key to having a successful life is to keep Jesus lifted up in every area of our lives. Areas such as family, finances, health, and our careers. When we keep Him lifted up over these areas, it allows Him to take the reins which will lead to blessings and prosperity in all areas.
Satan’s does not want us to be bless or to prosper. His goal is to get our eyes off of Jesus and to focus on our problems which will cause us to worry and be anxious. However, the Bible tells us that the Lord will keep those in perfect peace whose minds are stayed on Him. When John the Baptist saw Jesus, he said, “He must increase and I must decrease.” (John 3:30) We too must learn to decrease so that Christ can increase in our lives. As long as we continue to lift Him up, in turn He will continue to draw all men…
