Our trip to Guatemala with Shake the Nations
By Parker Wagnon
My wife and I’s hearts were filled with joy when we witnessed a Spanish elderly lady in her eighties as her right leg grew out two inches. After what seemed like ten minutes of commanding her leg to grow out and hips to align in Jesus’ name, we rejoiced at seeing it grow out in the last 15 seconds of prayer. What joy there is in seeing Jesus heal the sick!
Jalapa, Guatemala was the city where this took place. We were part of the Shake the Nations prayer/ministry team. It was early March 2020, when we flew into the very mountainous area of Central America. Evangelist Nathan Morris preached a fiery gospel message both Friday and Saturday nights, and thousands of people came up for both alter calls for healing and salvation! We witnessed lungs healed, tumors popping and falling off, and the crippled walking. As mentioned above, we personally prayed for a couple of people whose legs grew out. They were now walking with no canes and no longer a limp!
We were most impressed by watching the faith and hunger of these poor people as they listened to the gospel message of Jesus and what He did for them on the cross. This hunger seemed to activate the presence of the Holy Spirit to move and carry out Father God’s will upon the people. John 10:10 says that the devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy, but JESUS…
Right in front of me a lady began to shake and then fell to the ground. Her eyes rolled back in her head and demonic sounds came out of her mouth. My heart was pounding and all I could do was boldly command that demon to come out and apply the blood of Jesus. Later, she was set free and walked out of the deliverance tent saved and delivered! Jesus specializes in destroying hell, breaking the chains of sin that bind us, and healing us completely with His stripes and blood!
Mark 16:14-18 ESV says, “Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Every Christian in these last hours must stand up and believe the Word of God! Jesus wants to heal and save others through us!
On our flight home, we recalled what the Shake the Nations team told us on the bus to the airport—“Remember this trip and the miracles done through you in Jesus’ name. The devil will lie to you and tell you that this cannot happen in your hometown. He is a liar and the father of lies!”
We thank all of our partners for sharing with us in the rewards of doing the Great Commission.
