Every 4th of July we Americans celebrate Independence’s Day, the date in 1776 when America declared independence from Great Britain. That day was the birth of the greatest nation the world has ever known. The men signing that declaration knew they were putting their lives and families lives on the line to have freedom of religion and self-government.
With insurmountable odds and divine intervention these 13 colonies won that war and the United States of America began its journey to becoming the greatest nation in history. Today America’s United States have found themselves at another crossroads in its history—will its government of elected officials stop betraying the people who elected them, or push forward its agenda towards Americas demise.
We the people have slept in comfort as our finances have been given to our enemies and our elected officials become millionaires, while the working class struggles to survive. We the people have allowed our children to be brainwashed by our public schools as the children learn less about reading, writing and arithmetic and more about personal rights, lies about gender identity and biased civil rights.
Americans are losing their independence to govern themselves and some people believe that’s the best path forward. I do not!
What America is losing is God’s sovereignty over this great nation. Less people claim to be Christians and many Christians are by confession only, with no works to accompany their claim. The Bible says in James 2:17 NKJV “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” People with God’s mighty hand and direction of His Word and Holy Spirit built this nation, yet today it is common for newscast to blaspheme God’s name daily. Believers are counted as fools chasing a fairytale while many Americans are racing to eternal damnation. What will become of this nation of people? Only God knows the fate of each heart.
But what we know is everyone will know He is God when they meet Him face to face. Jesus said that in Matthew 12:36-37 (NKJV), “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” And in Matthew 12:34-35 (NKJV) it says, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” Seeing these words and knowing judgement comes for everyone who has lived, one might think how can people ignore God?
Look at what George Washington stated—“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable.” And Thomas Jefferson said, “The Christian religion is the best religion that has ever been given to man.” Abraham Lincoln noted, “In regards to this great Book (the Bible), I have but to say it is the best gift God has given to man. All that is good Jesus gave to the world and is communicated through this Bible. But for it, we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man’s welfare, here and hereafter, are found in it.”
The mightiest court in the world proclaimed, “This is a Christian nation”—United States Supreme Court Decision in Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States, 1892.” “The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country,” said Calvin Coolidge. Also, “Of the many influences that have shaped the United States into a distinctive nation and people, none may be said to be more fundamental and enduring than the Bible,” stated Ronald Reagan.
All the above profess America was and is a Christian nation yet the people have allowed God to be removed from our schools. Once all nations envied our schools, now it teachings ideologies more than knowledge, understanding and wisdom. Look at 1 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV)—“Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?”
God has called us to be “independent” of this world and its ways. By acknowledging and accepting Jesus Christ as our savior, we are forgiven of our sin and redeemed by God! Christians are “independent agents” bringing the message of Jesus Christ to people everywhere. It’s right and honorable to celebrate the birth of our United States of America every July 4th, but more so we should celebrate every independent person’s decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior!
God bless America and its people, as we strive to lead others to their Independence Day and freedom from sin, death, hell and the grave!
