From grassroots to the POTUS
By Cori Phelps
When Don Black, president and CEO of Cornerstone Television Network, heard a guest on his show called “RealLife” speaking about Islam and radical jihad groups say to him, “In the world of jihad—in the world of radical Islam, they celebrate 9/11 as a national day of victory. Because that was a day that they mark as a day that they defeated “the great satan,” (referring to the U.S.), it stirred him to go to the Lord and ask God, “Lord, what can we do to redeem that day?”
In an interview with Don in the week prior to 9/11, we learned the result was “a Holy Spirit-birthed movement initiative” called “In God We Trust,” that is “dedicated to God’s Truth and seeks to reestablish the traditional biblical foundation of our founders, as presented in the U.S. Constitution.” This movement was to “mobilize hundreds of thousands of Christians to pray, fast, and repent for the safety of our nation on September 11, 2017.”
Together with more than 13 Christian broadcasting networks, and leaders such as Gov. Mike Huckabee, Jonathan Cahn, Kay Arthur, Dr. Samuel Rodriguez, Pat Robertson and Alveda King, a television special was created called “In God We Trust: 9/11 Triumph from Tragedy,” along with an online petition, drafted to ask the President of the U.S. to proclaim 9/11 an official day of prayer, fasting and repentance.
With the goal of reaching 100,000 signatures in the six weeks prior to 9/11, they surpassed that goal and the petition made its way to the desk of POTUS. “And you know what Cori,” said Don, “that hasn’t happened in almost 100 years—since 1918, when Pres. Woodrow Wilson asked for that during WWI. So it’s time.”
Remarkably we are thrilled to share, POTUS heard their plea, and not only declared 9/11 as Patriots Day, but Sept. 8 – Sept. 10 as National Days of Prayer leading into 9/11. The live broadcast also aired on 9/11, and you can read the petition, see the broadcast and learn more about their movement by going to InGodWeTrust.TV.
