Gift of life lessons
By Kelly Mouisset
A friend called me one day just to “see how things were going.” I must admit, it was during one of the most difficult moments of my life. I found solace in her call, not just because of her wisdom, but because I knew God was at work.
It is amazing how often people have come in and out of my life at just the right moments. Some call it a coincidence, but I believe it is a gift from God. I can think back on people who taught me powerful lessons during different seasons in my life. One taught me it is ok to show weakness, because no one is strong all the time. Another was a friend I walked through a separation with that showed me what inner strength looks like. I met a gentleman who taught me that sometimes people are removed from our lives to protect us from a harm we cannot see. I met an amazing woman who taught me it is okay to laugh at yourself and have fun in life. Another beautiful soul taught me that neither success nor failure is something to be feared. With each encounter I walked away richer in ways that cannot be counted.
I have been gifted with so many people who have left so many life lessons in my heart. I have been taught how to parent, how to love, how to forgive, how to work hard, how to say goodbye and how to say “no.” Each person that has come into my life has been a gift from God. So, this season when we begin to look at the gifts under the tree, I will instead look back over this year and see the gifts I have been given all year long by the friends and family God has put in my life.
For through wise counsel you will wage your war, and victory lies in an abundance of advisors. — Proverbs 24:6
