A Parenting Conference of Parish Church
By Pastor Josh Kines
Do you wish you had help to know how to biblically discipline and train your children? Do you feel overwhelmed with the many decisions that need to be made regarding the use and abuse of technology, social media, and “gaming?” Are you struggling with a rebellious teenager? Do you feel helpless/hopeless in how to teach your child about the Lord and encourage a real relationship with Him?
It seems that the temptations, distractions, and outright attacks upon our children are growing more and more complicated, as technology and entertainment develop further in the world around us. We are blessed to be able to communicate with friends and family all over the world. We have more information at our disposal than any other generation, and it is available to everyone indiscriminately. However, with these amazing opportunities have come a host of uniquely difficult challenges for parents today.
There is so much noise, so many distractions, so many opinions, and so little time. How does one discern truth from error, benefit from harm, the healthy from the destructive? These are questions we have a hard time answering for ourselves, much less for our children who the Lord has called us to raise in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).
Parish Church is excited about our upcoming Parenting Conference on Friday and Saturday, April 30th-May 1st, where we will be addressing these and other issues. We are looking forward to hearing from Nate Shurden, a pastor, teacher, and Christian educator. Nate is the pastor of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Franklin, Tennessee and serves as an adjunct professor at New College Franklin. He is a regular contributor to Ligonier Ministries, Christward Collective, and He Reads Truth. Nate is married to his college sweetheart, Christy and they have five children Rosalyn, Katie, Knox, Luke, and Lila. We hope you will join us for this special event.
Joshua Kines is the pastor of Parish Church, a growing church in Lafayette. He is married to Emily and they have 6 children.
