Extra! Extra! Recruiting prayer sponsors!

By Pastor Randy Dugas

What are sponsors?

The Webster’s Dictionary defines sponsor as: to hold up, to raise, to keep from falling, support, to give moral or spiritual support or encouragement, support against opposition, and to sustain.

When organizations look for sponsors they are saying they need aid to pay the cost for to do what they do.

The body of Christ the Lord is looking for aid to help pay the price to help others, sustain them in prayer.

God looks for prayer sponsors

“For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to UPHOLD: therefore mine arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.”

— Isaiah 63:4-5

God wanted to execute vengeance upon His enemies to bring forth His redeemed.

That is what Jesus did on the cross; He executed vengeance upon the god of this world and brought forth His redeemed.

Notice He wondered that there was no one to UPHOLD. The word uphold means to sustain, to be steadfast, to lean upon.

How do we sponsor someone? God says, “I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none” — Ezekiel 22:30. God was looking for someone that had access to Him to stand before Him to make up the hedge and stand in the gap for the land or people or an organization.

The same is true today. He still looks for people to stand in the gap, to sponsor their families, neighbors, schools, businesses, cities, churches, state and nations…someone that is willing to pray the price.

Who needs prayer sponsors

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” — 1Timothy 2:1-2

The Spirit of God is telling us who we need to sponsor in prayer. For kings, for all that are in authority, for all men.

If we don’t pray for all men then some men will make a ship wreck of their faith and not only bring themselves down but others with them.

Therefore, sponsor others in prayer and the results are quietness, godliness, peace and honesty.

When we build God’s house, He builds our house

“Therefore God dealt well with the midwives and the people multiplied and waxed very mighty. And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses. The mid wives were instructed by Pharaoh to kill all the male babies, but they feared God and kept all male babies alive.”

— Exodus 1:20-21

Midwives are like the intercessors that help others to give birth to the purposes and promises of God. Because they didn’t kill any male babies God dealt well with them and made them houses.

Prayer sponsors are seeking first the kingdom of God and all these things that the gentiles seek after will be added to them. You build God’s house, and God will build your house.

The double blessing

“If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly father give good things to them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” — Matthew 7:11-12

When we sponsor others in prayer, God will see to it that others will be sponsoring you and your family in prayer.

Jesus taught the highest form of prayer is when you go to the father not only for your needs but for the needs of others. When we do that we receive the double blessing: the one for whom we pray gets blessed and we get blessed also.

Will you answer His call?

One of the Marines most well-known slogans is “We are looking for a few good men.” The same is true with the kingdom of God.

Will you enlist in the great army of intercessors and prayer sponsors that will pray for their families, neighborhoods, businesses, churches, cities, state and nations for his glory to be seen in our land? People will be blessed and you will be blessed because of your prayer sponsorship!
